FAQs
Do you just paint animals?
No, I paint a variety of subjects including people and landscapes! One of my passions is trying to immitate a photograph as best as possible regardless of the subject. So, if you have a family portrait/car/wedding photograph you would like painted, that's not a problem! Please fill out the form at the bottom of the page to discuss.

I have paid a deposit, now what?
I will need photos of the subject you wish to have a portrait of. I like to have a variety of photos from different angles and perspectives because it helps to get an idea of how the subject looks (especially if it is a pet portrait). Ideally, photos that are taken from eye level with natural light tend to make the best paintings so please bear that in mind!
High quality photos are appreciated but not absolutely necessary, many times I have worked with low quality photos. Additionally, if you don’t have many photos of the subject, or you're unsure of what to send just sent what you have and I will find a way to work with the photos we have. A description of the subject is also something I love to know, this could be anything you wish to share with me about their personality or a funny story.
How does payment work?
As standard for each portrait there is a £150 deposit required to secure your booking. This deposit is non refundable as you are booking a space in my calendar that could be used by someone else. When you have added the deposit to your cart, at Checkout there will be a box that asks you for notes. Here, you will need to outline what size painting you would like and where it needs to be sent once completed.
Once we have communicated, you will need to send the photograph you'd like painted. Then, I will then present a mock up of your portrait so you get an idea of how the painting will look. When you confirm that you are happy with the mock up, final payment of the remaining balance will need to be settled. After final payment is complete, I will begin to proceed with creating the final artwork (I accept payment via Card and PayPal).
I don’t have a picture of the subjects together, can you work from individual photos?
Yes of course! Most of my multiple subject paintings are created by using seperate photographs that I have put together. Before creating the original painting I will create a mock up sketch which I will send to you so that you can get an idea of how the portrait will look. I try to create a range of different compositions and perspectives for you to choose from so that we are both happy with the final outcome. At this stage we will also discuss any tweaks that need to be made before starting the portrait.
Can I choose a colour for the background?
Yes! The price includes your choice of a background colour of one or two colours. Please bear in mind that if you wish to have a different or complex background the price will be increased. For example, if you wish to have your pet near a lake, a forest, or maybe laying on their favorite spot on the sofa. You may also want a portrait of your children sitting amongst flowers in a field or your grandparents in your family kitchen. Anything is possible but the price increase will depend on what you have in mind and how much longer it will take me to paint the scene.
Do you frame the artwork?
Yes! Most of my customers opt to also have their artwork framed. I have a great relationship with Cardiff Frames who create bespoke, high quality frames. There are hundreds of frame mouldings to choose from aswell as a variety of mount boards. Please let me know at the initial ordering stage whether you would like a frame included in your order as this could affect your order time.
How much is shipping?
The shipping cost is included in the portrait price, First Class UK shipping with tracking is used. However, if you are not in the UK or are including a frame in your order, the shipping price may alter depending on the destination and weight of the final painting. Please highlight where the painting will be sent in the initial stages so that the process runs as smoothly as possible.
